Gwinnett Sheriff’s Office Conducting Active Shooter Training Exercise

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Court of Operations Division will conduct a live, multi-agency active shooter training exercise Saturday, December 3, 2022.
The training will be held from 8:00am to 9:30am at the Gwinnett Justice and Administrative Center, located at 75 Langley Drive. During the training exercise, businesses nearby may experience loud sirens, temporary road delays, and live emergency vehicle responses along Constitution Boulevard, Nash Street, and Langley Drive.
The purpose of the active shooter training is to continue the readiness response to a threat of an active shooter at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center.
Minimal traffic delays are expected in the area and traffic laws will still apply while training is underway. Drivers must yield the right of way to all emergency vehicles and reduce speed upon approaching any emergency vehicle that has activated its emergency lights and sirens.
The active shooter training exercise will not hinder your ability to call 911 for any emergency services.

SPLOST: Residents vote to renew SPLOST

SPLOST helps the County keep up with the needs of our growing population and allows the County to pay for major projects with a funding source other than property tax revenue. This includes new projects and improvements to existing assets. Plans for the 2023 SPLOST program revenue include $736.3 million for transportation, including roads, streets, and bridges; $133.9 million for public safety projects, including a new police headquarters; and $108 million for recreational facilities and equipment. Advance Voting for the General Election Runoff is underway

Now through Friday, December 2, registered voters may vote advance in-person, from 7:00am to 7:00pm at one of Gwinnett’s eleven advance voting locations. This is to help voters find a time to vote that aligns with their schedules prior to Election Day.
Unlike Election Day, you may vote early at any advance voting location in the county, not at an assigned polling location. Please be sure to bring a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or voter identification card.
All voters who were registered by November 7 can cast their ballot regardless of whether or not they voted in the General Election.
If you’re unable to vote in-person – either early or on Election Day – you may request an absentee ballot (English or Spanish) until Monday, November 28 to vote by mail. Voters must return their voted absentee by mail ballot by Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00pm. Ballots can be returned by mail, hand-delivered to the Gwinnett Voter Registrations and Elections Office, or dropped into one of the six secure ballot drop boxes located in Advance Voting locations around the county. No postage is necessary if you use the ballot drop boxes.
Please note that not all voting locations have drop boxes. Ballot drop boxes are now located inside designated advance voting location and are only available during advanced voting hours and days.
To check the status of your voter registration, see a sample ballot, and find your assigned polling locations, visit the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
