SPLOST: Leaders celebrate the completion of new interchange in Dacula

Gwinnett and Georgia Department of Transportation officials celebrated the completion of the interchange at State Route 316 and Harbins Road in Dacula, which is named for former Gwinnett Board of Commissioners Chairman Charlotte Nash.
The new five-lane bridge, which spans over SR 316, enhances safety while easing congestion for motorists. The $50 million project, which opened to traffic in March, was funded by 2014 and 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds, known as SPLOST.
The Georgia Department of Transportation approved a permit allowing the County to construct the interchange on a state route.

Get on board with Gwinnett public transit survey

Gwinnett County is reimagining the future of public transit with its Transit Development Plan and is seeking input through a short online survey.
“Local transit has the unique ability to transform and enhance quality of life for residents and visitors to the county,” said Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson. “To keep our transit system going in the right direction, we must constantly evaluate what we’re doing right and what can be done better. This feedback from our community will be an integral part of that process.”
In recent years, Gwinnett County Transit has boarded a million customers, enabling travel across the county and metro Atlanta through its local, commuter, and paratransit service routes. The plan will evaluate both current and future transit needs that also consists of transit services provided by regional partners like the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority Xpress and more.
“Our transit services are a vital component of our comprehensive approach to providing reliable, safe, and affordable multimodal transportation solutions for all,” said Gwinnett Transportation Director Lewis Cooksey. “Transit impacts everyone, whether directly or indirectly, so it’s imperative that all residents and stakeholders have a say in where we go from here.”
The survey will remain open until August 15 at GwinnettCounty.com/TDPSurvey and is accessible in multiple languages. For more information about the TDP or to access frequently asked questions, visit GwinnettCounty.com/TDP.
