Register to vote on National Voter Registration Day
The right to vote is a cornerstone of any democracy and one of the most sacred duties we share as Americans.
Every year, millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration date, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register.
National Voter Registration Day was first observed in 2012 to celebrate our democracy and encourage Americans to exercise their right to have their voices heard. The national recognition falls on the fourth Tuesday of September to remind eligible voters of the upcoming elections.
On Tuesday, September 28, volunteers, government agencies, and organizations around the country organize to spread awareness of voter registration opportunities. Residents can also get involved in the celebration by encouraging their family members, friends, and neighbors to register to vote by the October 4 voter registration deadline.
Residents can learn more about voter registration by visiting NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org. Eligible voters can also register or confirm if they’re registered to vote by visiting the Georgia Secretary of State’s website at RegisterToVote.sos.ga.gov.
